What are your opinions of the Salvation Army?

As a Christian supporter of gay rights, I am sorry to hear that they disapprove of gay marriage. However, there are an increasing number of denominations that treat gays as human beings, and don't shy away from honoring their personal relationships. Perhaps the Sallies (Salvation Army) will catch up someday. I am not an Evangelical Christian, and feel that the Salvation Army leans a little (or a lot) too closely to Fundamentalism. However, I do admire their "hands on" approach to providing for people's practical needs. They helped a Pagan friend of mine after a motorcycle crash, and didn't try to proselytize, which was nice. I actually expected them to come around and har this person about being of a different faith, but they didn't.
